reliable used cars

When shopping for used cars, buyers are and should be interested in two main factors above all others. Smart used car shoppers seek a car that is cheap and they want a car that is reliable.

It’s possible to find a wide variety of inexpensive used cars in any market. However, it’s hard to know when shopping if the car that is chosen will be reliable in the long or even short term.

There is a way to protect oneself, though. There are some car makes, models, and even years that are more reliable than others. When shopping for a used car, it’s best to focus on those specific vehicles in your search to experience the best results.

Read on to learn about some of the most reliable cars out there. These are cars that stay on the road longer and run smoother for years or in some cases, even over a decade.

You’ll be a happy and confident owner of a new-to-you used car if you choose any one of the following vehicles for your next purchase. You’ll have a reliable car to use and you’ll also be happy with how much you spent.

1. 2010 Ford Fusion

If you are looking for a comfortable, attractive, easy-to-handle, four-door sedan then a 2010 Ford Fusion is an excellent choice. This vehicle comes with either automatic or manual transmission and in a 175-horsepower four-cylinder engine or a 265-horsepower V6 version.

The trunk on this car is roomy and the interior is, too. It’s stylish and its look is timeless. Your friends and neighbors will be surprised to learn your new car is over ten years old.

2. 2008 Acura RL

If you want an even better-looking, slightly more high-end four-door sedan, you might want to consider the 2008 Acura RL. Everyone knows that Acuras are quality vehicles with a long lifespan but this model, in particular, is especially reliable in the long term.

It’s not as spacious inside as the Ford Fusion above, but it offers a smooth ride. The inclusion of Acura’s Collision Mitigation Braking System provides extra peace of mind where safety is involved and this is a great family car.

3. 2010 Toyota Sienna

Used minivans are often on the higher end of the used car price scale, but you can often find a used 2010 Toyota Sienna for under $10,000. It’s a great deal.

If you have a large family or spend a lot of time driving other people around, you’ll be happy to know that the Sienna seats eight. Removal of the rear seat results in a vast amount of storage and cargo space if you prefer.

As with all minivans, it may take a little while to get used to the handling of this one, but once you do, you’ll be pleased. This make and model comes standard with a 266-horsepower V6 engine; you’ll appreciate the extra power when you’re carrying a full load of people or of anything else.

4. 2009 Saturn Outlook

Remember Saturn? Independently operated, this car brand was owned by GM and was produced from 1985 to 2010. The Outlook was produced for the brand’s last four years, and was one of the most budget-friendly SUVs of its class. Today, you can find one for right around $5,000.

This vehicle is well-known even today for its reliability and top-notch handling. It also has seating for eight and ample room for cargo. It has a 3.6-liter V6 engine and has an excellent-sounding six-speaker audio system.

The seating arrangement can be configured for up to nine passengers or remove the rear seat for a vast amount of cargo space in the rear. Later models aren’t quite as reliable in the long term like this one, so be on the lookout for a 2007. If you find one, you’ll be happy you bought it.

When it comes to hybrids, the Toyota Prius is one of the first that comes to mind. This vehicle is extremely reliable and you can find a 2011 Prius now for under $10,000.
